Time for a Change
I formed AUEDA because of my nephew Paul Michael Uriegas. My brother a life long musician Ledro Uriegas and our family were devastated that Paul was diagnosed with a deadly aggressive childhood cancer “Rhabdomyosarcoma”. This cancer was not treated here in San Antonio at the time of his diagnosis. We were given the choice to go to Houston or San Francisco to obtain treatment for 12 year old child. We went to Houston. My brother and sister-in-law were uninsured and at the time my sister-in-law quit working to care for Paul.
So as a family we came together to help them make ends meet and help get him to and from his radiation and chemotherapy treatments in Houston. This is when it occurred to me that musicians or local artists needed to have somewhere to go and obtain help for issues such as these. This is why I created AUEDA. My goal is to build not only scholarships and advocacy programs for the artist to utilize and benefit from but to help create a membership that will afford us insurance for all those artists and their families with a cost that is affordable to our members.

This is when it occurred to me that musicians or local artists needed to have somewhere to go and obtain help for issues such as these.
